Project summary

Minorities Film Festival was a socio-cultural project aiming at creating a better understanding between people of different ethnicities in Romania. The project was designed as an open “window” towards minorities. Through this “window”, the majoritarian group was encouraged to understand cultural specificities of minorities, and therefore contribute to more tolerant attitudes and an increased appreciation of their traditional goods.

The project included a short films competition. The thematic of the films related to the ethnic minorities in Romania and described lives and experiences of people belonging to minority communities, highlighting aspects unknown to majority groups. The selected short films were also projected in Norway, with the purpose of promoting multiculturalism and tolerance towards immigrants.
