Project summary

This project was generated mainly by the need to promote the history of the old fortress of Brăila, to communicate to the local community the rich history of the local minorities – including the Roma minority – and their development together with the city’s evolution. Thus, the objectives of the project focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Romanian and Norwegian cultural operators in the field of art and culture, with emphasis on diversity; strengthening the public access to culture by presenting holographic screenings of movies with relevant historical and multiethnic message; establishing an optimum understanding of cultural diversity and strengthening the intercultural dialogue, including of minorities; developing opportunities for future activities, (holographic and quasiholographic screening).

Facts & figures

  • 2 films that present 2 moments from the history of the old Brăila fortress. The selected moments presented include: the Russian – Turkish war of 1828 – 1829 (following the 300 years Turkish domination) and the contribution of the 13 local communities to the city’s development from 1829 to 1945;
  • 3 holographic and quasi-holographic screenings that promote the multiethnic identity of Brăila;
  • 2 awareness campaigns on the educational role of art.
