Project summary

The project aimed  to promote social inclusion and change negative attitudes towards the Roma minority by using music as a non-formal education tool, adapted to the needs of young Roma and non-Roma in the disadvantaged community of Ferentari.

The specific objectives aimed at stimulating school attendance for 30 Roma and non-Roma children, developing musical skills, and last but not least, at promoting cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and challenging negative attitudes towards Roma.

Facts & figures

  • 30 Roma and non Roma children from the disadvantaged community of Ferentari, Bucharest involved in the project;
  • 80 workshops of African percussion music  and intercultural dialogue organized;
  • 1 audio CD with 10 songs recorded by Ikahya Band together with the children;
  • 1 flash mob developed during Street Delivery 2015 Festival;
  • 1 African music concert performed in Ferentari community.
