Project summary

The project focuses on how urban and heritage education can be provided by using the idea of public space, in an enterprise that presumes not only a theoretical approach, through lectures, screenings, discussions, but also local interventions, site visits and presentations and debates on the spot, to be given by a variety of specialists in the field: historians, architects, anthropologists, sociologists, civic activists. The project will look into how Bucharest started to be created, through the former ‘mahalale’, communities grouped according to their ethnicity and religion: Romanians, Jews, Armenians, Poles, Bulgarians, Turks, Roma, etc.

• 10 workshops dedicated to students on history, sociology, political sciences, anthropology, art history, urbanism, image techniques, non-formal teaching methods; 
• 4 guided tours through the city aiming to introduce students in the thematic of the workshops;
• 209 photos included in the contest;
• 5 partnerships.
